ABBA goes No.1 again with “Dancing Queen”

In 1976 Scandinavian 70’s Pop sensation the Swedish ABBA hits No. 1 in the charts over a dozen countries with the song “Dancing Queen.” On the U.K charts it was their 4th No. 1 single, peaking on September 7 and it stayed at the top of the Swedish charts for 14 weeks. ABBA came to prominence in 1974 after winning Eurovision Song Contest with “Waterloo,” after that they became a worldwide phenomenon of sales, a hit machine comparable to The Beatles in terms of success. The band broke up in 1982 still at the peak of their career and never got back together. Today they’re still one of the world’s best sellers and their songs remain as popular as they did in the 70’s and early 80’s.
