“She Loves You” goes No. 1 in the U.K
A true Rock classic, “She Loves You” remains The Beatles best-selling single in the U.K, on this day in 1963 it went No.1. As it was common back then, it was released as a single only, not included on their debut album “Please Please Me”, the single is notorious as being the first release that credits “Lennon/McCartney” on the songwriting instead of the until then used “McCartney/Lennon”. “She Loves You” is responsible for the outbreak of the Beatlemania around the world, The Beatles, already a new music sensation in 1963, hadn’t yet reached some international markets, including the U.S, with “She Loves You” they finally were able to establish as the most successful Rock band in the world at the time. On April 4th, 1964, the single set a record in the United States as one of the five Beatles songs that held the top five positions in the American charts simultaneously.
