Actress Linda Gray turns 84 today
Best remembered for her iconic role of Sue Ellen Ewing in the TV series “Dallas”, actress Linda Gray was born in in Santa Monica, California on September 12, 1940. She started her career during the 1960’s as a model and in television commercials, and after appearing in numerous TV shows during the 1970’s, Gray landed the role that earned her worldwide popularity in “Dallas,” starting in 1978 until 1989. She played one of the most memorable roles in the series, the long-suffering wife of Larry Hagman’s character J.R., Sue Ellen. The role gave her a 1981 nomination for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and also two Golden Globe Award nominations. After “Dallas” came to an end, Gray had small roles on movies, notably in the 1991 comedy “Oscar” with Sylvester Stallone and then made guest appearances in British drama “Lovejoy.” She returned to TV in 2004 as a guest star in five episodes of the daytime soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and more recently in 2017 joined the cast of Amazon Studios drama series “Hand of God” starring opposite Ron Perlman, Today the actress turns 84.
