The Police another hit with “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” in 1980

The Police scored several hits between the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, their “Greatest Hits” album is literally a non-stop list of hits. The New Wave band fronted by Sting had their third No.1 on September 28th, 1980, in the U.K with “Don’t Stand So Close to Me.” Like many of The Police songs, it bears a reggae style, the formula that made them famous. In the U.S it reached the Top 10 of the Hot 100 in the same year. “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” is included on their third album “Zenyatta Mondatta” that also featured another big hit for the band “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da.”
