On October 1st, 1982, American singer-songwriter John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Jack and Diane” starts a four-week run at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 and earned him worldwide success. The song, that is included on the album “American Fool”, remains to date Mellencamp’s most successful single. During the rest of the decade, he scored other hits such as “Hurts So Good,” however, his last worldwide hit single was in 1993 with “Human Wheels.” “Jack And Diane” remains to this day his signature song.
