Tiffany is not a teenager anymore

The 1980’s Teen Pop sensation turns 53 today

Tiffany is not a teenager anymore

Happy Birthday to Tiffany Renee Darwish, who turns 53 today! Tiffany was born on October 2, 1971, in Norwalk, California and was the daughter of a pilot. If you spent any time in an American mall in the late 1980’s, then you were fully aware of Tiffany, the redheaded teen pop singer. Her face was on posters and her fast-selling debut album was in record stores. Her hit single, “I Think We’re Alone Now,” (a song originally by Tommy James and the Shondells in the 60’s) was blasting out of the speakers at the food court daily. The pop album was released 30 years ago in 1987, she was only fifteen at the time. Tiffany not only was able to become famous in the United States but also worldwide where “I Think We’re Alone Now” turned out to be a hit in several countries making her one of the 1980’s pop references around the globe. Her follow-up records would fail to have the same impact giving her the undesirable title of One Hit Wonder. Tiffany posed for the April 2002 issue of Playboy, which became one of the highest-selling issues of all time. Tiffany married makeup artist Bulmaro Garcia in 1992. Their only son, Elijah Garcia, was born on September 17, 1992. They divorced in 2003, and she would remarry the following year to British businessman Ben George. Tiffany still leads an active career; she often performs for events in the Gay community where a big base of her fans still is, and she tours with other 1980’s acts.
