Nirvana plays the Seattle Paramount Theater on Halloween Night, 1991

On October 31st, 1991, Nirvana offered an unforgettable Halloween night live at the Paramount Theater in Seattle. Less than two months after the release of “Nevermind,” Nirvana, who were climbing the top of the charts with “Smells Like Teen Spirit” returned to Seattle where they played live most of their acclaimed album songs and a wide selection of their first one “Bleach.” The concert was recorded and filmed, early footage from it was used on the 1992 music video of “Lithium,” and in 1994 several clips were used on Nirvana’s first video release “Live! Tonight! Sold Out!”  Aside of the usual line up of songs from their two studio albums at the time, the band also played “Jesus Doesn’t Want Me for a Sunbeam” the Vaselines cover that the band popularized in 1993 on their MTV Unplugged concert and an early version of “Rape Me”, a song later included on their last studio album “In Utero” in 1993.  Nirvana finished the concert with “Endless, Nameless”, the secret/bonus track included on the “Nevermind” CD release, which went on for almost 8 minutes of shredded guitar noise and pounding drums. During the performance of the song, Nirvana smashed their instruments, a ritual the band often made during their early years. The complete concert was released in 2011 on DVD and included on the “Nevermind” 20th Anniversary issue CD. It’s regarded as Nirvana at their peak and one of their most famous concerts.
