The actress Demi Moore celebrates 62 today

Demi Moore was born Demi Gene Guynes on November 11, 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico. Raised in a challenging environment with a tumultuous family life, she moved frequently throughout her childhood. After leaving high school at 16, Moore pursued acting and modeling, leading her to early roles that quickly made her a fixture in Hollywood.
Moore’s acting breakthrough came with the television series General Hospital in the early 1980s. She then became part of the so-called “Brat Pack” with her role in St. Elmo’s Fire (1985), which put her alongside other young actors who would become icons of the decade. This exposure set the stage for her role in About Last Night (1986), solidifying her reputation as a rising talent in the film industry.
Moore’s career skyrocketed in 1990 with the romantic drama Ghost, where her performance alongside Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg touched audiences worldwide. The film’s success established Moore as a leading actress, and she followed it with hits like A Few Good Men (1992), Indecent Proposal (1993), and Disclosure (1994). Known for her intensity and boldness, Moore made headlines in 1996 for her role in Striptease, for which she was paid a record-breaking $12.5 million, one of the highest salaries for a female actress at the time.
In the late 1990s, Moore took on more diverse projects, such as G.I. Jane (1997), in which she played a Navy SEAL recruit, showcasing her commitment to challenging, physically demanding roles. After a short hiatus from the big screen, she returned in the early 2000s with roles in films like Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003), proving she still had a strong fan base.
Her more recent roles include Margin Call (2011) and Rough Night (2017), where she expanded her acting range and explored different genres. Moore has also ventured into production, co-founding the production company Moving Pictures and producing several of her films.
Moore married musician Freddy Moore in 1980 (from whom she kept her now-famous last name) before divorcing him in 1985. She later married actor Bruce Willis in 1987, and the couple had three daughters before divorcing in 2000. Moore’s third marriage was to actor Ashton Kutcher in 2005, making headlines for their age difference. Although they divorced in 2013, Moore and Kutcher have since remained amicable.
In her 2019 memoir, Inside Out, Moore revealed her struggles with substance abuse and family challenges, earning praise for her openness. She continues to be an advocate for mental health awareness and personal empowerment.
