“The Walking Dead” popular actor Norman Reedus turns 56 today
Norman Reedus was born in Hollywood, Florida on January 6th, 1969, the son of Marianne, a teacher, and Ira Norman Reedus. Having moved to Los Angeles with his family, Reedus grew up on the coast and also lived in countries like Ireland, Japan, and Spain. As an adult, the actor worked at a Harley-Davidson retailer in Venice, CA before he was discovered at a party in Los Angeles. It was there that someone asked Reedus if he would like to act in a play, and he was cast in “Maps for Drowners.” Norman’s first film was Guillermo Del Toro’s 1997 film “Mimic,” where he played the character, Jeremy. He then went on to play roles in “Dark Harbor,” “Gossip,” “Blade II,” “American Gangster” and more. Norman is perhaps best known for playing the role of Murphy MacManus in the 1999 movie “The Boondock Saints” opposite Sean Patrick Flanery and Willem Dafoe. However, fans know Reedus best for his stint on “The Walking Dead.” In 2010, the actor took on the role of Daryl Dixon the hit AMC horror drama. Famously, Reedus’ character is not canon to “The Walking Dead” comics and was created just for the actor after he originally auditioned for the role of Merle. Reedus was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work as Daryl Dixon in 2012. Outside of “The Walking Dead”, Reedus is also known for his work with reality shows and video games. In June 2016, “Ride with Norman Reedus” debuted, and the actor is also part of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding video games project. He also has his own series featuring his character of Norman Reedus in a spinoff of “The Walking Dead.”
