The British singer and songwriter Paul Young celebrates 69 today

The British singer and songwriter Paul Young was born Paul Antony Young, born on January 17, 1956, in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. He first gained prominence in the late 1970s as the lead vocalist for bands such as Kat Kool & the Kool Cats, Streetband, and Q-Tips. However, it was his solo career in the 1980s that catapulted him to international fame.
Young’s debut solo album, No Parlez (1983), featured hits like “Wherever I Lay My Hat” and “Come Back and Stay,” establishing him as a leading figure in the blue-eyed soul genre. His subsequent albums, including The Secret of Association (1985), which contained the chart-topping single “Every Time You Go Away.”
Paul married Stacey Smith in 1987, whom he met during the video shoot for “Come Back and Stay.” The couple had three children together: daughters Levi and Layla, and son Grady. Tragically, Stacey passed away in 2018 after a two-year battle with brain cancer.
In 2024, Paul found love again and married his partner, Lorna Young. The couple celebrated their union with a joyous wedding ceremony, marking a new chapter in Paul’s life.
His latest album, “Behind the Lens,” was released in 2023. Today he celebrates 69.
