Rick Evans is best known for being part of the 1960’s duo Zager and Evans, now viewed as one hit wonders. He was born on January 20th, 1943, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Evans composed the smash hit “In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus),” that gave Zager and Evans their only No.1 between 1969 and 1970. The song was a tremendous success not only in the U.S by reaching the top of the Hot 100 chart, but also worldwide and it’s now estimated that sales of the song have exceeded 10.000 copies including the single and inclusions on albums and compilations. The prophetic song, that remains contemporary through its lyrics, warned of the dangers of technology, portraying a future in which the human race was destroyed by its own technological and medical innovations. The last stanza of the song suggests mankind undergoes a continuing cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Zager and Evans disbanded in 1971, and Rick Evans has largely stayed out of the public eye but resurfaced for some online commentaries about “2525” and his recent life in 2013.
