A Brief Overlook on Christian Bale’s life and career
Born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales on January 30, 1974, the actor Christian Bale spent his childhood in Wales, Surrey and Dorset in England, and Portugal. He first appeared in the big screen at age 13 in the 1987 Steven Spielberg’s war film “Empire of the Sun.” After several roles in movies such as the 1998 “Velvet Goldmine,” Bale landed his adult breakthrough role in 2000 for portraying the serial killer Patrick Bateman in “American Psycho.” Since then, he went on to become one of the most recognized actors of his generation. The prolific Bale is also known as taking acting methods to the extreme by exposing his body to transformations that he regards as necessary to embody the characters, in 2004, he lost 63 pounds for his role in the psychological thriller “The Machinist” (2004) and within six months, he gained 100 pounds to star as Batman in “Batman Begins”. He later reprises the Batman role in the sequels “The Dark Knight” (2008) and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012). More recently, Bale once again transformed his body to play the role of the U.S former Vice-President Dick Cheney in the 2018 film “Vice”, for that role he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. He also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Dicky Eklund in the 2010 biopic “The Fighter”. In 2019, Christian Bale starred as race car driver Ken Miles in “Ford v Ferrari”. Christian Bale is also an activist and a well-known supporter of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Greenpeace, and the World Wildlife Fund.
