Originally titled “Das Model” in the German version first released in 1978, the song “The Model” it’s one of the best examples of the Kraftwerk influential electronic sound that inspired among others, David Bowie’s albums “Low” and “Heroes.” In 1981 the English version, titled “The Model”, was re-issued as a B-Side of the single “Computer Love”. When radio DJs started to play the B-Side, the label EMI decided to once again reissue the single with “The Model” as the A-Side. On February 6, 1982, it reached No.1 on the UK charts, spending a total of 21 weeks in the top 75. The English version of the song eventually became more popular across Europe and in the United States, but today, the original German version “Das Model” is actually the preferred one.
