Best recognized for his role as the drummer and keyboardist for the rock band Them during the mid-1960s, Patrick “Pat” McAuley, born on March 17, 1944, in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. Them, formed in Belfast in April 1964, gained prominence with hits like “Gloria” and “Here Comes the Night,” contributing significantly to the garage rock genre.
McAuley’s tenure with Them was marked by dynamic performances and a distinctive sound that influenced many contemporaries. After departing from Them, he continued his musical journey with the Belfast Gypsies, further showcasing his versatility and passion for music.
Pat McAuley passed away in 1984 in Donegal, Ireland, at the age of 40. His contributions to the music scene, particularly during the vibrant 1960s rock era, remain influential and are remembered by fans and musicians alike.
