The actor Matthew Broderick celebrates 63

 

Matthew Broderick was born on March 21, 1962, in New York City. Raised in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, he is the son of actor James Broderick and playwright Patricia Broderick. His early exposure to the arts led him to attend the Walden School, where he developed a passion for acting.
Broderick’s career began on stage, earning critical acclaim for his role as Eugene Morris Jerome in Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs” (1983), which garnered him a Tony Award. He reprised this character in the sequel, “Biloxi Blues” (1985).
Transitioning to film, Broderick gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the charming high schooler in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (1986). He also starred in “WarGames” (1983) and provided the adult voice of Simba in Disney’s “The Lion King” (1994).
In 2001, Broderick returned to Broadway, starring as Leo Bloom in the musical “The Producers,” a role he reprised in the 2005 film adaptation. His performance earned him another Tony Award nomination.
Beyond his professional achievements, Broderick has been married to actress Sarah Jessica Parker since 1997, and they have three children together.
