The actor Richard Grieco celebrates 60
Richard John Grieco Jr. was born on March 23, 1965, in Watertown, New York. He is the son of Richard Grieco Sr., of Italian descent, and Carolyn O’Reilly, of Irish heritage. During his youth, Grieco played football for Central Connecticut State University before transitioning into modeling. He worked with prominent brands such as Armani, Calvin Klein, and Chanel.
Grieco’s acting career began with his portrayal of Rick Gardner in the soap opera “One Life to Live” from 1985 to 1987. He gained widespread recognition in 1988 when he joined the cast of the television series “21 Jump Street” as Detective Dennis Booker, a role that led to the spin-off series “Booker,” which aired from 1989 to 1990.
In 1991, Grieco made his film debut as Michael Corben in the action-comedy “If Looks Could Kill.” The same year, he portrayed the notorious gangster Bugsy Siegel in “Mobsters.” Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, he appeared in various films and television shows, including a cameo as himself in the 1998 comedy “A Night at the Roxbury.”
Beyond acting, Grieco explored a career in music. In 1994, he formed the Dunmore Band and released the album “Waiting for the Sky to Fall” in 1995 under a German label. Later, he collaborated with music manager Cheryl Bogart to form the band Wasteland Park in 2004.
In 2009, encouraged by his friend Dennis Hopper, Grieco publicly revealed his passion for painting, a pursuit he had begun in 1991. He describes his artistic style as “Abstract Emotionalism,” and his work has been exhibited and sold internationally.
