Sebastian Bach turns 57 today
The Canadian American singer Sebastian Bach was born Sebastian Philip Bierk on April 3, 1968, in Freeport, Bahamas. Raised in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Bach’s passion for music emerged early, leading him to perform with various local bands during his youth.
In 1987, Bach joined Skid Row, a New Jersey-based band formed by guitarist Dave “The Snake” Sabo. His dynamic stage presence and powerful vocals were instrumental in propelling the band to prominence. Skid Row’s self-titled debut album, released in 1989, achieved multi-platinum status and featured hit singles like “18 and Life” and “I Remember You.” Their sophomore effort, “Slave to the Grind” (1991), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, solidifying their position in the hard rock scene.
Bach’s tenure with Skid Row concluded in 1996 due to creative differences. Following his departure, he pursued a solo career, releasing albums such as “Angel Down” (2007), “Kicking & Screaming” (2011), and “Give ‘Em Hell” (2014). Beyond his musical endeavors, Bach explored acting, appearing on television shows like “Gilmore Girls” and participating in Broadway productions, including “Jekyll & Hyde” and “The Rocky Horror Show.”
In 2016, Bach published his memoir, “18 and Life on Skid Row,” offering an introspective look into his life and career.
