The actor Russell Crowe celebrates 61 today

Russell Ira Crowe was born on April 7, 1964, in Wellington, New Zealand. At the age of four, his family relocated to Australia, where he spent much of his early life. Crowe began his acting career with appearances on Australian television, including a role in the series “Spyforce” at age six. In his teenage years, he also pursued music, forming the band Roman Antix, which later evolved into 30 Odd Foot of Grunts.​
Crowe gained recognition in Australian cinema with performances in films such as “Romper Stomper” (1992), where he portrayed a violent skinhead, earning critical acclaim. His breakthrough in Hollywood came with the role of Bud White in “L.A. Confidential” (1997), followed by a portrayal of tobacco industry whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand in “The Insider” (1999), which garnered him an Academy Award nomination.​

Beyond acting, Crowe has maintained his musical pursuits, performing with bands like 30 Odd Foot of Grunts and The Ordinary Fear of God. He has also been involved in sports, co-owning the South Sydney Rabbitohs, a rugby league team in Australia.
