Dennis William Quaid was born on April 9, 1954, in Houston, Texas. He grew up in the suburb of Bellaire, where he developed an early interest in the arts. Quaid studied drama, Mandarin Chinese, and dance at Bellaire High School and later attended the University of Houston. However, he left college before graduating to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles.
Quaid’s early years in Hollywood were challenging, but he gained recognition with his role in Breaking Away (1979). His portrayal of astronaut Gordon Cooper in The Right Stuff (1983) further established his reputation.
