Shannen Maria Doherty was born on April 12, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. She began her acting career at a young age, gaining early recognition for her role as Jenny Wilder in the television series “Little House on the Prairie” (1982–1983). Doherty rose to prominence in the 1990s with her portrayal of Brenda Walsh in the popular teen drama “Beverly Hills, 90210” (1990–1994). She further solidified her status as a television star with her role as Prue Halliwell in the supernatural series “Charmed” (1998–2001).
Throughout her career, Doherty appeared in various films and television projects, including the cult classic “Heathers” (1989) and the comedy “Mallrats” (1995). She was also known for her work as a producer and director.
In 2015, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer, which went into remission in 2017. However, the cancer returned in 2019 as stage four and later spread to her brain and bones. Despite her illness, she remained active in her career and advocacy work. Shannen Doherty passed away on July 13, 2024, in Malibu, California, at the age of 53.
