The model and actress Carmen Electra celebrates 53 today

Carmen Electra was born Tara Leigh Patrick on April 20, 1972, in Sharonville, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. The daughter of an engineer father and a former dancer mother, she grew up with two brothers and developed a love of dance and performance from an early age, taking ballet and jazz classes throughout her childhood. After graduating from Kings High School, she moved to California to pursue modeling and dance professionally.
She was discovered by Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner in the early 1990s and quickly became one of the magazine’s most popular cover models, adopting the stage name Carmen Electra. Her striking looks and athletic figure led to work as a video vixen in music videos for artists like Prince and Tone Lōc, and she soon transitioned into acting. Electra made her film debut in 1997 and went on to star in a string of comedy and horror films—including the “Scary Movie” series—while also becoming a household name through her long‑running stint as a co‑host on “MTV’s Singled Out.”
Beyond modeling and film, Electra has lent her voice to animated series, appeared in reality‑TV projects, and performed on Broadway in the musical “Thornton Wilder’s Our Town.” Known for her infectious energy and fearless willingness to embrace absurd, high‑camp roles, she has also launched a line of fitness DVDs and fragrances. Over three decades after her arrival in Hollywood, Carmen Electra continues to work across television, film, and stage, building on a career defined by versatility and bold self‑reinvention.
