Peter Frampton was born on April 22, 1950, in Bromley, Kent, England. The son of a British Airways pilot, he grew up in a musically inclined household and received his first guitar at age 10. By his mid-teens he was already a seasoned performer, joining the influential rock band Humble Pie in 1968 alongside Steve Marriott and making his recording debut just before his 18th birthday.
After two albums with Humble Pie, Frampton struck out on his own in 1972, releasing a pair of well‑received solo records that showcased his melodic sensibility and burgeoning flair as a songwriter.
