Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, she is the daughter of Betty Witherspoon, a registered nurse and professor of nursing, and John Draper Witherspoon, a military surgeon. Her early exposure to the arts and a strong academic background led her to attend the prestigious Harpeth Hall School, where she was a cheerleader and honor student.
