Spin Doctors’ lead singer Chris Barron was born on this day in 1968

Chris Barron was born on February 5, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii, but spent his childhood in the Bronx and Rye, New York, and later moving to Australia for over three years when he was 8 years old. When his family returned to the United States, Barron attended the same high school in Princeton, New Jersey as John Popper from Blues Traveler. Although John Popper was not featured on their final line up, in 1988, they formed together the band that would become the Spin Doctors. The band reached their pinnacle of success during the early 1990’s with their 1991 album “A Pocket Full Of Kryptonite” that featured the hits “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” and their signature song “Two Princes”. They contributed with a song for the 1994 “Philadelphia” movie soundtrack, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” a Creedence Clearwater Revival cover that became a minor hit for the band, but despite their initial international success, the Spin Doctors failed to keep up and in 2001 they disbanded. Barron remains an active musician and composer, a curious fact is that in 2012, Barron took part in the Norwegian selection for the European popular Eurovision Song Contest, with The Canoes. Today he turns 56.
