Bonnie Tyler’s family and team announced that they “are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away” Wednesday night in a hospital in Portugal “as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.” Tyler’s unexpected death comes after she needed emergency surgery and was hospitalized in Portugal since April after being misdiagnosed earlier in the U.K. She arrived at Portugal in late April, where for decades she used to spend part of the year in her house in Algarve. After realizing she was still unwell she visited a doctor in Portugal, which immediately sent her to the hospital due to the seriousness of her condition. At the hospital she had emergency surgery and doctors put her into a medically induced coma to help with her recovery. After rumors that she was finally recovering, Tyler passed away unexpectedly while still hospitalized on the evening of July 8th at age 75.
