In Des Moines, Iowa, performing a date on his Diary Of A Madman tour, Ozzy Osbourne was performing on stage, whilst under the influence of something or other, when something black flew into his face. Thinking it was a rubber toy, he shoved it into his mouth and bit down. But before succumbing to the rocker’s bite, the bat was able to get its revenge by chomping down on a bit of Ozzy’s tongue, which forced Ozzy to undergo treatment for rabies. Ozzy said that he first realized something had gone awry when “Immediately, however, something felt bad. Very bad. For starters, my mouth was instantly filled with this hot, sticky liquid, with the worst aftertaste you can imagine. I could feel it staining my teeth and running down my chin. Then the head in my mouth twitched. ‘Oh, fuck me,’ I thought. Do not tell me I just ate a fucking bat.” Later the rock star would speak humorously about the event saying “I got rabies shots for biting the head off a bat but that’s OK – the bat had to get Ozzy shots.”
